Awards and Recognition
Do you know a graduate or graduates who should receive an Alumni Award?
If so, this is the page for you! Listed below are the awards given to alumni by the Alumni Association.
Nominations are collected throughout the year and are submitted to the members of the Awards Committee who then decide on the recipients of the awards. Persons who are nominated are not made aware of the nomination unless they are chosen to receive the award. When making a nomination, please include your name and contact information as you may be called upon to provide supporting documentation to uphold the nomination.
Crusader Alumni Award
Criteria:
- A graduate of 20 years or LESS
- An individual who, in deeds and action, reflects and recognizes the importance of his or her education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, who demonstrates pride in the alma mater and whose interest in and loyalty to the university and to the Alumni Association are evident.
- Person of integrity, stature and demonstrated ability in his or her business profession, community, life work or worthy endeavor, whose accomplishments reflect credit and honor upon the university.
- One who upholds the Christian ideals and standards of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Distinguished Alumni Award
Criteria:
- A graduate of 20 years or more
- An individual who, in deeds and action, reflects and recognizes the importance of his or her education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, who demonstrates pride in the alma mater and whose interest in and loyalty to the university and to the Alumni Association are evident.
- Person of integrity, stature and demonstrated ability in his or her business profession, community, life work or worthy endeavor, whose accomplishments reflect credit and honor upon the university.
- One who upholds the Christian ideals and standards of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Honorary Alumni Award
Criteria:
- Honorary membership to the Alumni Association is given to an individual who, although not a former student of the University, exhibits love and loyalty to the school in various ways.
- The individual may be any friend of the school - parent; trustee (or spouse); member of faculty, staff or administration, etc.
- Length of involvement with or service to the University is one of the major focuses in selection.
The Golden Shield Award
The purpose of the Golden Shield Award is to recognize a short-term and/or one-time accomplishment of an alumnus/alumna when he or she has been publicly recognized by their community, profession, or church, or by a professional organization, sorority, or fraternity. This recognition should result in honoring the alumnus/alumna as well as the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Criteria:
- An alumnus/alumna may be recommended by another alumnus/alumna, faculty or staff member, student, family member, or "anyone" who brings the accomplishment/honor to the attention of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Alumni Office or members of the Awards Committee. Recommendations are subject to final review by the Awards Committee.
- Documentation should accompany the recommendation and may be newspaper or magazine clippings, letters to the individual from the honoring organization, copies of certificates or plaques, publicity from news media, etc.
- An alumnus/alumna on the faculty or staff of Â鶹ÊÓƵ or serving on the Alumni Board of Directors is eligible for this award.
The Parker Award
This award was established in 1991 by the Alumni Association of Â鶹ÊÓƵ to be given in honor of former Â鶹ÊÓƵ president and first lady, Bobby E. and Marietta Parker. They lovingly shared of themselves and taught the value of the Mary Hardin-Baylor family and encouraged alumni to send their sons and daughters to Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
Criteria:
- Recipients of the award will be a multi-generational or multi-member alumni family who has demonstrated loyalty, support and commitment to the university.
- The award will be given during Homecoming but may not be given every year.
- Recipients will be selected by the Awards Committee of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Alumni Association.
Service Award
Criteria:
- An individual who, in deeds and action, reflects and recognizes the importance of his or her education at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, who demonstrates pride in the alma mater, and whose interest in and loyalty to the university and to the Alumni Association are evident.
- Person of integrity and self-sacrifice, whose devotion to volunteer work, not tied to their vocation, reflects credit and honor upon the university.
- One who upholds the Christian ideals and standards of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
