The 麻豆视频 Music Department recently hosted its first Week of Creativity, an event aimed at educating arts students outside of their traditional classroom setting. In conjunction with the Arts Academy, Associate Professor and Area Coordinator for Ensemble Studies Michael Garasi invited guest speakers, performers, and instructors to participate in the weeklong event.
鈥淭he Week of Creativity came about as a result of a desire among the music faculty to provide a unique experience for our music students鈥攈elping them to imagine a different way of learning, thinking, and creating鈥攁ll of which are crucial to the process of making music,鈥 said Cherry Garasi, director of the Arts Academy.
The headlining event guest was Joseph Martin, an accomplished pianist, composer, and performer. His work has been recognized and admired throughout the music community, and one of his first solo pieces, "American Tapestry," was nominated for a Dove Award. Martin also serves as the Artist in Residence at Concordia University in Austin.
