Kim Thornton joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Exercise and Sport Science faculty on April 1, 2012. In addition to her faculty responsibilities in EXSS, Kirkpatrick-Thornton serves as the EXSS Activities Courses Coordinator.

Kim taught and coached in public schools for 19 years before coming to 麻豆视频. She made stops at Weatherford, Hillsboro, Robinson, Midway and Lorena before coming to 麻豆视频 as the Head Women鈥檚 basketball coach where she served from 2005-2012.She guided the Cru women to six American Southwest Conference Championship Tournaments advancing to the ASC Championship Game in her inaugural season and leading the 麻豆视频 women to the only ASC West Division title in the program鈥檚 history during the 2009-10 season. Kim鈥檚 husband, Philip works at 麻豆视频 in the Physical Plant as a Building Access Controller Technician.
