Dr. Heejun Choi was born and raised in Daegu, South Korea. As his grandparents were strong Christians, he was a part of the church ever since he was born. He spent most of the time from elementary school to high school in Daegu, his hometown. After graduating from high school, he attended the Korea Air Force Academy to become a soldier. During his military service, he served as a director of software development center and as a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Korea Air Force Academy until he retired as Lt. Col. from the Air Force in 2013. During his military service, he obtained an M.S. degree in Information Technology from POSTECH and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Louisville with the support of the Korea Air Force.
He joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2014 Fall and taught graduate courses such as Database development, Project management, Information systems security, and Data analytics using R at MSIS. Currently, he teaches undergraduate students fundamental and advanced Computer Science courses such as Big data, AI, Data analysis & visualization, and so on.
He lives with his wife in Belton and his son and daughter live in Boston and San Antonio, respectively for dental schools. He currently attends G3 Church in Killeen, where he serves as a deacon. He sincerely hopes that God will use him and his family in the future to spread God’s word around the world with their talents
